However, the Soviets have inferior handheld AT units to deal with the German late game, particularly the Ostheer Wehrmacht. The Soviet Union has a strong mid game presence, relying on mass hordes of numerous but weak infantry. The Soviets can build a total of four base buildings, each with their own specialty. Only thing changed with them is constant nerfs of the units because day 1 OKW was too stupid in terms of stats That's true, it's just that in the past there was 1 way to play OKW. OKW was always strong on infantry side of the game, thats not something new. The faction presents a myriad number of infantry combinations that are really powerful. Or Falls (doctrinal), the original glass cannon. Then Panzerfusilliers (doctrinal), the best infantry in the game. Then Obers, which if used properly become super soldiers. Then you have the PG's which when upgraded with STG44's are incredibly good all around infantry when vetted up. You start with Sturmpioneers which are short range bullies that can be upgraded with schreks.
